Tanut Chankasem Opening

Tanut Chankasem

known as Pao

Founder and CEO, Undercat Creatives Co., Ltd.Creative director, director and cinematographer, based in Bangkok and Phetchabun, Thailand.

Pao is a filmmaker who studies each project closely before he picks up the camera. Since 2020–21 he has made brand films, documentaries and content for car brands, sport, restaurants, schools and communities. In February 2025 he incorporated Undercat Creatives, where he works with a small team of editors and a junior producer.

This page is arranged around six principles that guide his work. Each chapter shows one of them, in the visual style of the work itself. Films open on YouTube, and the tools can be tried on the page. Please take your time.

See the essence.

Listen to the feelings behind it.

Shape it together.

Chapter 1

Six principles

the mindset behind the work

In his own words, translated from Thai

  1. Essence. Before the camera, he studies what the work is and why it was made.
  2. Dialogue. He talks with each client in depth, until he understands what they care about most.
  3. Care. Light, color and pace are refined until every frame carries the maker’s care.
  4. Alongside. He guides clients, team and partners to the goal together.
  5. Room. In a world that keeps getting faster, he leaves room to slow down and think.
  6. Wisdom. A single film can change how people think, so he values work that passes on wisdom.

The principles, in his words

Each principle comes from how Pao describes his own work. His words are translated from Thai, followed by what the principle means for the story and the chapters where it can be seen.

  1. Essence

“For every project, I go in and study its essence. When I film a car, I study the design and try to read the intention of the brand’s CEO or founder.”

In the story. The film follows the maker’s intention, not the trend of the moment.

See it in Automotive and Supercars and motorsport

  2. Dialogue

“I like to have deep conversations with my clients, and to look into every detail with them.”

In the story. The story is found in conversation first, in what the client cares about most, and only then written down.

See it in Food, places and people and Software and systems

  3. Care

“What I love most is refinement, and craft in the visual work.”

In the story. Light, color and pace are refined until every frame shows the care the maker put into the product.

See it in Supercars and motorsport and Automotive

  4. Alongside

“I am happiest working with people who have a passion for what they make. Everyone I have worked with cares deeply about the work, so we both enjoy it. I like to take clients, colleagues and partners to the destination together, with the abilities we share.”

In the story. Everyone brings their own craft. He guides the work to its goal together with them, and stays to support it after the launch.

See it in Sport, Software and systems and Education and community

  5. Room

“In a world that keeps getting faster, I feel it is valuable to slow down sometimes, and to offer new perspectives and new ways of thinking through media.”

In the story. The pace is chosen on purpose. A film or a page leaves room for the viewer to pause, think and see something new.

See it in The Art of Waiting and Automotive

  6. Wisdom

“One video can change how people think, change a mindset, and give wisdom through the work. I love storytelling that passes wisdom on.”

In the story. Each film should leave the viewer with something worth keeping and passing on.

See it in Education and community and Sport

The same principles shape this page. It begins with the essence, keeps a slow pace, and ends with an invitation to talk.

Chapter 2

Automotive

2022–2026

Directed, photographed, edited and graded by Tanut Chankasem

Essence. Before filming a car, he studies its design and the intention of the people who lead the brand.

Audi Q8 edition one launch film: a headlight in a dark studio

Q8 edition oneframe 001 / 080

  1. Automotive is his largest body of work. Audi Thailand has trusted him with its films every year since 2022.
  2. Before each film he studies the car’s design and what the brand intends, so that the film follows the maker’s idea.
  3. In the Q8 edition one film the car arrives in fragments, a headlight, the grille, a line of the body, read one line at a time.
  4. It is seen whole only at the end, in the brand’s quietest and most confident moment.

Care. One written standard, so that every car is photographed with the same care.

  1. From January to July 2026, Undercat was the content partner of Redline Supercar.
  2. The work log records 46 jobs in seven months, with photo and film sets for more than 25 cars.
  3. The work also covered YouTube episodes, a track day in Buriram and Redline BBMP Racing.
  4. He wrote Redline’s photography standards guide, so that every car is photographed with the same care.

Sport, filmed and measured.

2022–2026

Creative direction, direction, cinematography and content strategy by Tanut Chankasem. Website and app built by him.

Alongside. Since 2025 he has worked alongside Greenline’s coaches, on films, a website and an app, as the business grows.

Aerial and macro stills from golf work

  1. Greenline Golf Lab coaches golf with data.
  2. Since 2025 Undercat has worked alongside its coaches, turning biomechanics into films a golfer can feel.
  3. The work includes the 12-episode DNA Talk series, weekly coaching videos and a beginner’s docuseries.
  4. Between 27 February and 26 March 2026, the channel drew 41,800 YouTube views.

Try the ball-flight explorer

Pao built this tool for Greenline’s website. It shows how the club face and the swing path at impact decide the shape of a shot, using the D-plane model that coaches teach with. It is rebuilt here from his code.

The face is open but closed to the path, so the ball starts right and draws back.

Chapter 5

Food, places and people

2024–2026

Directed, photographed and edited by Tanut Chankasem

Dialogue. In food, the story belongs to the people who cook, so the work begins by listening to them.

  1. For restaurants and places, the work is mostly short vertical film, made to be found in social feeds.
  2. For Lim Lao Ngow, a Michelin-recognized heritage noodle shop, he made a campaign of three films in 2025.
  3. He has also filmed for SC Asset’s Sonle Residences, two clinics and Phetchabun’s tourism office.
  4. In 2026 he launched Nang Kwak, a kit and LINE app made to support owners of small food shops.

Try the Nang Kwak message engine

A new Nang Kwak feature, now in design, greets each shop owner with one short message chosen from the time, the day, the type of shop and what has just happened. The lines are written in advance and chosen by rule, so no AI is needed when the app opens. Set the situation and read what she would say.

Chapter 6

Education and community

2025–2026

Direction, cinematography, editing and creative lead by Tanut Chankasem

Wisdom. Films for schools, causes and communities are the work he especially enjoys.

“One video can change how people think, change a mindset, and give wisdom through the work.”

Tanut Chankasem, translated from Thai

Films

School brand film, 2025

Lomkao Pittayakom School

A film for a school in Lom Kao, Phetchabun, about the skills students build there, through music, art, science and more. One of its title cards reads “You can be that person.” Pao counts it among the work he is most proud of.

Director, cinematographer, editor

A frame from the documentary: an Everwave team member speaks beside a canal in Bangkok, with the subtitle “Our project is about cleaning up the canals in Bangkok.”

Documentary, with Audi Thailand

Audi x Everwave, Cleanup Mission Thailand

Everwave, AEF and TerraCycle, supported by Audi, set out to remove plastic from Bangkok’s canals. The film follows the mission from preparation to the cleanup itself, so that one film serves both CSR reporting and the public.

Director, cinematographer, editor

Charity runs

Nong Pai Run is a charity run for Nongphai Hospital. From November 2025 Pao directed its documentary, planned the run of show and built the campaign website with a live donation dashboard.

The first edition closed with the figures shown here. The work continues into a second event.

Run with Buddho

หลวงปู่ชวนวิ่ง ครั้งที่ 2. A charity run on 20 December 2026 for Wat Khao Charoen Tham, benefiting Nongphai Hospital. Pao is part of the PR and creative team, responsible for the campaign concept, key visual, content and press.

Software and systems

Designed and built by Tanut Chankasem, working with AI coding tools

Alongside. He builds tools that keep working for a client after the film is delivered.

He designs and builds the software his work needs, hands-on, on React, Next.js, Supabase, Cloudflare and Vercel. Some of it serves clients. Some of it runs the studio.

Try the Briefing Room match

The Undercat website asks a new client for a goal and a style, then shows the closest past work, so that the first conversation starts from real examples. This is the same scoring, rebuilt from his code: 40% for the same goal, 30% for the same industry and 30% for how close the style is.

Creative direction, design and build by Tanut Chankasem

    1. The Art of Waiting is a course being made with the knowledge side. It teaches how to wait, not how to get rich quickly.
    2. Scroll 0, the free opening chapter, tells the history of trade in 11 scenes, in Thai, English and Japanese.
    3. This page borrows its grammar, with lines that advance as you scroll, a timeline below and details on request.
    4. Its rules include no promise of profit, a source for every figure, and a decision before every answer.

    Decide before the answer

In every bargain, a buyer can accept the price or argue it down. Scene 1 of Scroll 0 names a third choice. Choose yours before you see it.

Every lesson in the course asks for a decision before it shows the answer.

    Principles of the visual language

    • No faces, only a gaze.
    • One image, one idea.
    • One point of gold per screen.
    • Slow on purpose.
    • Real typefaces, and no AI-drawn Thai lettering or faces.

Scene art combines public-domain museum works with images adapted using an AI image model, layered in code.

    The knowledge side

Provides the theory and the content of every product.

    The creative side

Makes the content reach people: visuals, story, format, posting, sales and marketing. The creative side does not write financial content with AI.

    Chapter 9

    How he works

    roles, method, tools

Learned by doing, one project at a time

    1. Pao learned his craft by doing it, one project at a time.
    2. Because of this, he can take responsibility for every stage, from the first conversation to the final color grade.
    3. On one production he is often the director, cinematographer, editor and builder, working with a small team.
    4. These are the roles he holds, under their standard industry titles. Select one to see what it covers.

      Director

Turns a brief into a story and a shot plan, and directs talent and crew on set.

Where: Audi launch films, Ducati XDiavel Nera, the Lomkao Pittayakom School film, the Audi x Everwave and Nong Pai Run documentaries

      Five stages of every project

Undercat sets out its method on its website. In the studio’s own words, every project passes through five stages. The principle behind each stage is marked beside it.

      1. 1Dialogue

        Listen first

Before the brief. Before the camera.

      2. 2Essence

        Point the direction

Creative direction before anyone rolls camera.

      3. 3

        Make it

Production at the standard the project needs. The scope comes from the work, not the invoice.

      4. 4Care

        Make it right

        Refine until it lands.

      5. 5Alongside

        Make it work

Built for the platforms it has to live on, and kept growing after it ships.

      The name Undercat

Undercat is a play on underdog: a small studio that reaches the goal through instinct, speed and a clear aim.

      Instinct
Read the brief, the people and the moment, and see what the work needs. Study is what makes the instinct reliable.
      Speed
Move from idea to finished work quickly, with a small team, without lowering the standard.
      Goal first
Agree with the client on the result they need, then take the most direct path to it.

Speed never replaces care. Facts are checked, sources are cited, and clients receive written standards, such as the photography guide made for Redline.

      Tools, and where AI fits

Filming, photography, editing, grading and design are done by hand in professional tools. AI is used to speed up research, writing and software building.

      By hand
Sony cameras, a drone, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom, and Frame.io for client review
      With AI
Claude and Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini, Lovable, n8n, and local models on Ollama
      To build
React, Next.js, Supabase, Cloudflare and Vercel, with Notion and LINE Official Account

We use systems. We use automation. We use AI. Not to replace creativity. To give it more room.
